The Gironde wildfires are France’s most severe in half a century, destroying roughly 104,000 acres before being contained. The massive wildfires took two lives, destroyed more than 200 homes, and forced more than 220,000 people to be evacuated across the region. Here’s how Amazon is helping.
Donating and delivering supplies Amazon is donating and delivering more than 80,000 emergency supplies through our partners, including hygiene kits, blankets, cots, and sleeping bags from our Disaster Relief hub in Germany to the Gironde region.
Amazon uses the same fast delivery network and cutting-edge technology that get packages to doorsteps every day to donate and deliver essential relief items to our nonprofit partners on the ground.
Amazon is working closely with la Croix-Rouge française, la Protection Civile, and le Secours populaire français to deliver aid to wildfire-affected communities in France.
