Amazon Leo has announced a new agreement that will expand internet connectivity across Uzbekistan. UZ-SAT, a subsidiary of Uztelecom, the country’s leading telecommunications operator, will serve as an authorized distributor of Amazon Leo.

UZ-SAT will use Amazon Leo to create and deliver new connectivity solutions to its customers, bringing fast, reliable satellite internet to communities and businesses in areas where traditional networks are difficult to deploy.

Amazon Leo introduces gigabit-speed antenna for commercial aviation The Amazon Leo Aviation Antenna will deliver reliable internet connectivity to airline passengers and crew with up to 1 Gbps download and 400 Mbps upload speeds.

Uztelecom currently provides connectivity to 96% of communities, operates more than 234,000 miles (378,000 kilometers) of fiber-optic infrastructure, and serves more than 13 million users.

Despite that extensive reach, Uzbekistan's diverse geography—from mountain regions to remote desert communities—means some areas remain difficult and costly to connect through terrestrial networks alone. Amazon Leo is designed to complement Uztelecom's existing infrastructure, extending connectivity where it is needed most.

How Amazon Leo brings connectivity to remote areas Amazon Leo is designed to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers beyond the reach of traditional networks. The system is powered by an initial constellation of more than 3,000 satellites connected to a secure, global network of ground gateway antennas and dedicated fiber infrastructure.

A range of customer terminals—Amazon Leo Nano, Pro, and Ultra—are designed to make connectivity simple to deploy across a range of use cases. Supporting Uzbekistan’s digital transformation The agreement was announced during the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum on the first day of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026 and comes as Uzbekistan is driving an ambitious digital transformation across the country, investing in modern infrastructure and building a connected digital economy.

Amazon Leo has launched nearly 400 satellites to date and is currently testing the service with employees and with select enterprise customers as part of a private preview. We expect to begin rolling out initial service in certain locations later this year, and will expand coverage as we launch more satellites and add coverage and capacity to the network.
