Amazon's 2026 holiday peak fulfillment fees, plus the 3.5% surcharge

From October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, Amazon charges higher FBA fulfillment fees. It says they average $0.32 more per unit than non-peak, the same increase as last year. The 3.5% fuel and logistics-related surcharge it added in April applies on top. On a $20 small standard kitchen item weighing 6 to 8 oz, that takes fulfillment from $3.66 to $3.87 per unit.

The facts, from Amazon

Is the 3.5% surcharge still on? Yes, as of October 21, 2026. Amazon's FBA fee pages still carry it and Amazon hasn't announced an end date. Supply Chain Dive reports that an Amazon representative told sellers it stays “until further notice”. We'll update this line when that changes.

Peak vs non-peak FBA fees, by size tier

Non-apparel rates for items priced $10 to $50, the band most sellers model. The last column adds the 3.5% surcharge to the peak rate. Amazon publishes the rates before the surcharge and doesn't say how it rounds, so we round to the cent. Apparel and dangerous goods have separate tables on Amazon's page.

Other price bands, small and large standard

Amazon prices standard-size items in three bands. Items under $10 get lower Low-Price FBA rates, and items over $50 pay more. The peak increase is similar in every band.

Worked examples: referral fee + FBA fee + surcharge

Each example is one unit with no buyer-paid shipping. The referral fee comes from our Amazon fee table, which is checked against “Selling on Amazon fee schedule”. The surcharge applies to the fulfillment fee only, not the referral fee.

$8.99 phone accessory (small standard, 2+ to 4 oz): referral fee $1.35. Peak FBA fee $2.68 ($0.19 above non-peak) × 1.035 = $2.77, of which $0.09 is surcharge. Amazon keeps $4.12 and you keep $4.87 before product cost, against $5.06 outside peak.

$20.00 kitchen gadget (small standard, 6+ to 8 oz): referral fee $3.00. Peak FBA fee $3.74 ($0.20 above non-peak) × 1.035 = $3.87, of which $0.13 is surcharge. Amazon keeps $6.87 and you keep $13.13 before product cost, against $13.34 outside peak.

$34.00 toy (large standard, 1+ to 1.25 lb): referral fee $5.10. Peak FBA fee $5.34 ($0.30 above non-peak) × 1.035 = $5.53, of which $0.19 is surcharge. Amazon keeps $10.63 and you keep $23.37 before product cost, against $23.68 outside peak.

$59.00 home & garden item (small bulky, 10 lb shipping weight): referral fee $8.85. Peak FBA fee $12.01 ($1.04 above non-peak) × 1.035 = $12.43, of which $0.42 is surcharge. Amazon keeps $21.28 and you keep $37.72 before product cost, against $38.80 outside peak.

For the small bulky example, shipping weight is 10 lb, so the fee is the base rate plus 9 × $0.38 for each pound above the first.

How it stacks with the rest of your FBA costs

  1. Referral fee: set by category, as a percentage of the sale price. It doesn't change for peak.
  2. FBA fulfillment fee: the peak rate card above, for units shipped October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027.
  3. 3.5% surcharge: on the fulfillment fee, peak or not.
  4. Monthly storage: base storage for standard-size, non-dangerous goods is $2.40 per cubic foot a month from October to December, against $0.78 from January to September. Oversize is $1.40 against $0.56. A 0.1 cubic foot unit costs about $0.24 a month to store in Q4, against $0.08 the rest of the year, before any storage utilization surcharge. “Monthly inventory storage fees”
  5. Everything else: the Professional plan ($39.99 a month), inbound placement, low-inventory-level, aged-inventory and returns fees are separate, and the examples above leave them out.

Common questions

When do Amazon’s 2026 holiday peak fulfillment fees apply?
From October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, for FBA, Remote Fulfillment with FBA, Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Buy with Prime. Amazon charges the FBA fulfillment fee when the order ships, so the ship date decides which rate applies. Non-peak rates return on January 15, 2027.
How much higher are the 2026 peak fees?
Amazon says the peak increase is the same as last year, averaging $0.32 per unit. In its rate card, small standard items rise $0.19 to $0.22 a unit, large standard items $0.24 to $0.54 depending on weight, small and large bulky items $1.04 at the base rate, and extra-large items $2.73 to $8.51. Those figures are before the surcharge.
Does the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge apply on top of peak fees?
Yes. Amazon says the 3.5% surcharge applies on top of holiday peak fulfillment fees. It is calculated on the fulfillment fee, not the sale price. For a $20 small standard kitchen item weighing 6 to 8 oz, the peak fee is $3.74 and $3.87 with the surcharge.
Is Amazon’s 3.5% fuel surcharge still in effect?
Yes, as of October 21, 2026. Amazon’s FBA fee pages still list it, and Amazon has announced no end date. It started on April 17, 2026 for FBA in the US and Canada and on May 2, 2026 for Buy with Prime and MCF. Amazon put the average at $0.17 per US FBA unit.
Does the surcharge apply to referral or storage fees?
Amazon describes it as a surcharge on fulfillment fees, calculated on those fees rather than on the sale price. It does not describe it as applying to referral fees. Storage has its own seasonal increase: base storage for standard-size items is $2.40 per cubic foot a month from October to December, against $0.78 from January to September.
