Full Coverage

Under the requirements of EU Directive (EU) 2023/2673 is the introduction of an electronic Withdrawal from Contract function for distance contracts concluded online – basically all ecommerce. The obligation to provide a withdrawal button will apply from 19 June 2026.

To help you comply with the new EU directive taking effect 19 June 2026, eBay have updated the buyer return experience. Buyers will see an easily accessible option to exercise their Right of Withdrawal directly from their Purchase History and Order Details.

What you need to do on eBay Update your return policy by the 19th of June to inform your buyers of this new functionality to stay compliant. Visit the Seller Hub and click Account. Click Listings Business Policies Return policies Edit.

Along with existing Right of Withdrawal options such as post and email, include the information that buyers may use the “Return item” option from the Purchase History or Order Details pages, and select the “Withdrawal from Contract” reason code. Once you’re done making changes, click Save to complete the update.

Update your return policy by the 19th of June to stay compliant and avoid potential action from local authorities (especially those in the EU!) If your customer uses this new functionality to exercise their Right of Withdrawal, you’ll receive a Confirmation of Withdrawal from Contract email containing a copy of their notice for your records.
