Nestlé USA opened a $330 million, 700,000-square-foot distribution center in Arvin, California, it announced in June. The Swiss food and beverage company called the new facility its largest and most technologically advanced distribution center to date.
Its new facility will use automation to improve efficiency and eventually get all of its energy from renewable sources, including wind and solar, it said. Nestlé operates 335 factories in 75 countries. The Americas, including the United States, are its largest market and accounted for 48% of sales in 2025.
“Our investment in the new Arvin Distribution Center reflects how we’re building Nestlé for the future, modernizing our supply chain and delivering for our customers and consumers with greater speed and precision,” said Marty Thompson, chief executive officer, in a written statement. Nestlé is No. 10 in the Europe Database.

It designed the technology to handle the movement of shelf-stable goods with improved accuracy through laser-guided vehicles and robotics. The company also said it designed the site for flexible operations to handle demand swings across its portfolio and support future growth.
Products from brands including Nestlé Toll House, Coffee mate and Gerber will move through the facility. “This state-of-the art, digitally enabled facility enhances our ability to meet growing demand across our portfolio and reinforces our long term commitment to investing and growing in the United States,” Thompson said.
Automation’s impacts on employment at Nestlé Nestlé framed the automation as a way to reduce repetitive and physically demanding tasks and improve employee safety. It also said it expects the Arvin operation to bring more than 110 jobs to the community in Kern County.
In late 2025, the food and beverage company announced plans to cut 16,000 jobs, or about 6% of the company, over the next two years. Those layoffs included about 4,000 jobs in Nestlé’s supply chain and manufacturing divisions. operations between 2020 and 2030. The Arvin center is the second high-tech distribution site the company has opened in recent years. It follows a beverage factory and distribution center in Glendale, Arizona. Nestlé invested $675 million in the 630,000-square-foot facility that opened in 2025 to produce creamers across the company’s brands.
Nestlé’s massive global supply chain has been an advantage amid disruptions around the world due to international conflicts.
“The combination of our scale and the fact that we largely manufacture locally, means that when there is global supply chain disruption, normally Nestlé gains share because we are more able to navigate that environment than others,” chief financial officer Anna Manz told investors in April 2026.
