Full Coverage

Depop Australia will change its fee structure from the 22nd of July, removing selling fees for all sellers based in Australia. This follows closely on the heels of the launch of Vinted in Australia.

The move broadly aligns Australia with Depop’s fee structure in the UK and US, where Depop say that removing selling fees saw a 30–45% increase in listings, giving buyers access to a wider selection of secondhand fashion.

The removal of selling fees is part of a wider update to Depop’s fee structure, which also includes the introduction of a marketplace fee for buyers in Australia from 22nd July onwards.

The marketplace fee allows Depop to continually invest in the platform — funding 24/7 customer support and keeping every transaction safe and secure for the whole Depop community of buyers and sellers. Selling fees will be removed for sellers based in Australia on AUD sales from 22 July 2026.

Selling fees were 10% (to be replaced by buyer fee) Payment processing fees and boosting fees will continue to apply. A buyer marketplace fee of up to 5% of the item purchase price (excluding taxes and shipping costs), plus up to $1 AUD, will apply from 22 July 2026.

Sellers aren’t complaining about the change in fees so much as the addition of the £1 AUD fixed fee. This they say will make their goods unaffordable and discourage shoppers – it will in particular impact low value items.

The growth of Depop’s Australian community has been remarkable, and so much of that is down to the sellers and buyers who have helped build the platform into what it is today. Every item on our platform starts with someone who chooses to list it, style it, photograph it, and ship it.

Removing selling fees means more of every sale stays with the people who earned it and we hope it will encourage more people to take their first step into selling secondhand. We want selling on Depop in Australia to be as rewarding as possible, and this is one of a number of investments to make that happen.

– Peter Semple, CEO, Depop Depop sellers in Australia who complete at least one sale generate an average of A$502 in sales in their first year on the platform Since launching in 2011, more than A$10.

5 billion has been transacted on Depop globally Depop Australia also announced further improvements are coming, including a dedicated shipping solution for buyers and sellers, which is planned for the months ahead.
