Dive Brief: Maersk is set to open a 617,000-square-foot fulfillment hub near Boston to serve a single large-scale e-commerce customer, according to a July 15 press release. Maersk did not disclose the name of the customer.
The $100 million facility in Hopedale, Massachusetts, slated to open in August, can process up to 330,000 units per day at peak capacity, per the release. The fulfillment hub is equipped with conveyor and sortation technology, which was co-designed with the customer based on their needs, a Maersk spokesperson told Supply Chain Dive.
