Visa has announced the release of its AI Financial Assistant, an artificial intelligence tool it said it designed to help banks “evolve their apps for an AI-driven era.” It said the feature helps banks and financial institutions bring AI-powered insights to cardholders “under their own brand, look and feel with no custom development required.”

Visa cited data from a September 2025 study indicating that more than 66% of surveyed Americans who have used generative AI are turning to AI for financial advice. It also cited data from January 2026 indicating consumers view banks as the most trusted institutions to safeguard personal data.

85% said they were willing to share even more data with their bank if there was a clear AI value proposition, according to that same study. Michele Herron, head of North America value-added services at Visa, said in a statement that consumers are already turning to AI for financial advice.

“But banks have the full financial picture, can act on it, and are among the most trusted institutions consumers rely on,” Herron said. “AI Financial Assistant brings those strengths together, combining personalized insights based on a consumer’s own data and pairing it with the ability to act, all right within their bank’s app.

By simply turning on this service, banks can strengthen relationships with their customers and transform from a passive ledger to a generative AI-enabled financial hub.” News Visa sees AI investments, consumer adjustments supporting economic outlook Brian Warmoth | Jul 1, 2026
