Please let us know if you have feedback. Dive Brief: BNSF Railway is now offering a faster intermodal service from Phoenix to Dallas-Fort Worth, according to an Aug. 10 press release. Catering to two major Southwest markets, shippers can transport cargo to the Phoenix-to-North Texas route in over three days.
The service will run six days a week due to higher customer demand. “We’re seeing more customers looking for capacity solutions as we head into the domestic peak shipping season, while continuing to manage their transportation costs,” BNSF Group VP of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel said in the release.
Dive Insight: BNSF’s latest service route from Phoenix to Dallas Fort-Worth helps lay the groundwork for railroad’s second intermodal facility in the Phoenix area, per the release. The upcoming Arizona facility, Logistics Park Phoenix (LPP), is set to open in early 2027 as part of the first phase.
The facility is aimed to support both economic growth and supply chain investment in the region. “LPP is part of BNSF’s broader logistics park strategy, which connects industrial development with intermodal infrastructure to create additional supply chain efficiencies for customers,” according to the release. BNSF has been making major investments this year.
The railroad is moving forward with its plans to build a $4 billion rail facility known as the Barstow International Gateway project. The 4,500-acre rail facility in California will include a rail yard, intermodal facility, and transload warehouses.
