TD Synnex, Siemens partner to expand industrial AI and IT-OT distribution globally

TD Synnex and Siemens announced a global distribution partnership on Oct. 5 to converge IT and operational technology for industrial AI use cases. No direct impact on Amazon, Walmart, or Target seller operations, fees, or workflows.
Signals accelerating IT-OT convergence at enterprise scale, but the $1T market opportunity is in industrial digitalization, not retail ecommerce.
This is a B2B infrastructure play targeting factory floors and enterprise systems, not marketplace sellers. No action needed for ecommerce operators in the next 30 days.

TD Synnex and Siemens are set to collaborate internationally as the two companies partner on distribution. Combining TD Synnex’s information technology offerings and Siemens’ own infrastructure and automation portfolio, the companies announced their agreement with their eyes on industrial use cases for artificial intelligence.
Together, they plan to meet demand for software and physical AI, according to Siemens. Why TD Synnex and Siemens are working together “With the incredible pace of change driven by AI, bringing IT and OT [operational technology] closer together has never been more important,” said Alastair Borissow, head of global distribution sales at Siemens.
“By combining our established and highly capable global OT distribution network with TD Synnex’s complementary strengths in IT distribution, scale and ecosystem we intend to create new opportunities for our entire distribution channel.” The Oct.
5 joint announcements noted that TD Synnex and Siemens agreed on a “joint framework” that would enable their global partnership. They highlighted Siemens’ technology and TD Synnex’s expertise and customer outcomes.
“IT and OT convergence is creating significant opportunities for partners to connect enterprise technology with the systems that power industries, infrastructure and buildings,” said Cheryl Day, senior vice president, new vendor acquisition and global solutions at TD Synnex.
“By combining Siemens’ industrial technology expertise with TD Synnex’s global partner ecosystem, enablement capabilities and value-added services, we can help partners access new markets, develop new skills and address emerging opportunities in areas such as industrial AI, automation, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.”

“We aim to create new routes to market, engage new buying centers within existing customers and reach entirely new customers, while accelerating the convergence of IT and OT.” Smith noted the potential market that TD Synnex and Siemens could address through their combined efforts. In his view, the opportunity could be worth as much as $1 trillion.
TD Synnex already operates across more than 100 countries, according to the distributor. If they are successful, Smith sees the partnership as a path to improve their reach. “Together, we have the opportunity to unlock a trillion-dollar market and make secure industrial digitalization more accessible, scalable and impactful worldwide,” Smith stated.
