Basically, Royal Mail has removed access to its Age Verification services for private sellers and no longer makes these services available via online purchase or Post Office channels. This means that they will simply no longer be offered as an option within the eBay listing flow.
This is a massive blow for private sellers as alternatives are going to cost considerably more. For business registered sellers, to continue using Royal Mail Age Verification, you’re going to need a account direct with Royal Mail. Details of age restricted items on eBay can be found here.
The impact of losing Royal Mail Age Verification On eBay, you will no longer be able to create new listings or revise current listings with Royal Mail Age Verification as a shipping service. From 21st May, eBay will update your existing listings where Royal Mail Age Verification has been selected: Royal Mail with Age Verification will be removed.
UPS Adult Signature Required delivery service will be added to your listings by default using the same shipping price already set on the listing. UPS Adult Signature Required service can be purchased on eBay’s label platform with prices ranging from £11. 00 for a small parcel on the Shop2Home service up to £24.
32 for a large parcel on the Home2Home service, so please adjust your shipping price accordingly. If you are a Business Seller and want to continue using Royal Mail Age Verification services, you need to: Create a Royal Mail business account directly with Royal Mail. Purchase and manage these services outside of eBay.
