Amazon Pharmacy launched same-day delivery for Eli Lilly's new GLP-1 weight loss pill Foundayo on April 9, 2026, with pricing starting at $25/month with insurance. Amazon can deliver to 3,000 cities same-day, expanding to 4,500 by end of 2026.

Our Take

Amazon's aggressive pharmacy expansion signals deeper healthcare vertical integration that could impact health/wellness sellers through increased competition and potential category restrictions. Monitor your health supplement ASINs for policy changes as Amazon prioritizes prescription alternatives.

What This Means

Amazon's vertical integration into healthcare follows their playbook of dominating high-margin categories, potentially squeezing out third-party health/wellness sellers through policy changes and algorithmic preference for their pharmacy products.

Full Coverage

Amazon Pharmacy has announced that it now sells a recently approved glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) medication, offering same-day delivery for it as well. The product from Eli Lilly, Foundayo, is a once-daily pill. The companies said the GLP-1 medication is a “treatment for adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related medical problems.”

They began selling the product together April 9. Popular comparable products include Ozempic and Rybelsus for diabetes, which Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk sells under the brand name Wegovy. Amazon is competing with leading Health & Beauty retailers in selling GLP-1 products online, including Hims & Hers.

In March, Hims & Hers and Novo Nordisk had resolved a conflict surrounding the former selling the latter’s products, which include GLP-1 treatments. Hims & Hers had become North America’s fastest growing online retailer in 2024. “We see tremendous growth opportunities in the U. S.

with the expanding assortment of branded GLP-1 medications,” said Andrew Dudum, co-founder and CEO of Hims & Hers, when the companies announced their agreement. “I’m excited to have a great partner in Novo Nordisk as we work to create a new model that works for everyday people.

This collaboration reflects what’s possible globally when drugmakers, biotech companies, and diagnostic leaders partner with consumer platforms to support scaled distribution of their latest medical innovations.” Amazon ranks No. 1 in Digital Commerce 360’s Top 2000 Database.

The database is how Digital Commerce 360 tracks the largest North American online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales. Amazon is also No. 3 in Digital Commerce 360’s Global Online Marketplaces Database. That database ranks the 100 largest such marketplaces by third-party gross merchandise value (GMV).

How Amazon will sell GLP-1 with same-day delivery Customers with valid prescriptions can order the treatment through Amazon Pharmacy, the company said. Those customers can then see real-time medication availability and pricing before receiving deliveries to their homes, it added.

“With insurance, pricing starts as low as $1 per day or $25 per month,” Amazon said. “For cash pay customers, pricing is $5 per day or $149 per month.” Amazon Pharmacy said it also will automatically apply manufacturer-sponsored coupons before checkout. In addition, Amazon Pharmacy emphasized it would offer the Foundayo GLP-1 through same-day delivery.

Amazon said it can reach about 3,000 cities and towns for same-day delivery. It plans to expand that to about 4,500 by the end of 2026, according to its announcement. “In remote areas,” Amazon will offer next-day, two-day and three-day prescription delivery.

It referred to remote areas as those “where the nearest brick-and-mortar pharmacy can be more than a 45-minute to 60-minute drive away.”

Amazon Pharmacy said customers will “soon” have access to medications through “in-office, licensed pharmacist-supported kiosks at select One Medical locations immediately after medical appointments, allowing them to skip long pharmacy lines.” Amazon Pharmacy said it has delivered GLP-1 medications since 2021.

It said it provides “24/7 access” to licensed pharmacists. Additionally, Amazon said it offers personalized clinical evaluations through One Medical. Amazon acquired One Medical in 2023 for $3. 49 billion. Amazon said One Medical also offers “evidence-based treatment recommendations and ongoing care management tailored to individual health needs and goals.”
