eBay ‘Cost of Goods’ Data Disappears

launched a new feature late last year that allowed sellers to record the cost of the items they list, but sellers began reporting over the past week that the data has disappeared. In one thread on the eBay discussion boards, a seller who reported that the “Your Cost” field was missing shared a screenshot showing how it did appear before it went MIA.

In another thread, a seller wrote, “Am I going crazy? I just found this option a month ago. Now I cant find where to enter it any more.” Another seller replied, “I’m looking for the same thing! Where did the ‘seller cost’ field go when listing the price of an item? I’ve tried different browsers, restarted my computer but it’s still missing.

This was a great field and helped me keep tabs of my item cost. Please bring it back.”

eBay had given an example of how sellers would find the field helpful, as we reported in December: “When you receive an offer from a buyer, you’ll be able to see the offer price, your cost (if you’ve added it to the listing), and the age of the listing, making it easier to decide whether to accept the offer.”

It’s unclear if the cost field disappeared because of a glitch or if it was an intentional change. One seller who called the disappearance of the “Your Cost” field very frustrating said the same thing had happened with the auto price reduction option.

As we had reported in February, eBay confirmed it had intentionally eliminated the auto price reduction feature, explaining that “some features on eBay come and go based on their success, failure or lack of use.”
