TL;DR AWD is a simple pay-as-you-go low-cost bulk storage service aiming to free sellers from the time-consuming, cumbersome process of moving inventory from upstream facilities to Amazon fulfillment centers On the 20th of August 2026, Amazon are introducing the Amazon Warehousing and Distribution programme (‘AWD’) for their Germany, France, Italy, Spain and UK stores.
This is essentially forward warehousing for FBA and your stock can be automatically sent to FBA as needed for replenishment and designed to help solve supply chain challenges for sellers. Launched four years ago in the US, sellers, there are able to use AWD to supply alternative selling channels. This has not yet been announced for the UK.
AWD provides sellers with flat-rate, long-term bulk storage in Amazon distribution centres with automated replenishment to FBA fulfilment centres. Sellers can dispatch inventory in bulk to an AWD distribution centre and Amazon automatically replenishes your FBA fulfilment centres based on demand.
The AWD programme policy governs your participation, including product eligibility, delivery requirements, fees, reimbursements and inventory returns.
This is a great service for anyone that’s been hit with either Long Term Storage fees by FBA, or who have capacity restrictions on the volumes they can hold in FBA, especially at peak trading times which are coming up soon. AWD will also be amazing for overseas sellers who wish to hold stock in the UK or EU ready for onward distribution to FBA.
As you’d expect, all products sent to AWD must have gone through prep and item labeling ready for FBA before being bulk boxed and shipped into Amazon. AWD Packaging Requirements All shipments delivered to AWD centers must be packaged in closed boxes, regardless of shipping method. No loose, unboxed, or open items will be accepted.
Use a rigid, six-sided box with flaps intact. Each box you include in the shipment must have its own unique (SSCC) label (box label) printed from step 3 of AWD shipment creation workflow. Each pallet requires four AWD Pallet ID labels, one on the top center of each side.
Each box on the pallet also requires its own unique SSCC label (box label) printed from step 3 of AWD shipment creation workflow. Use adequate packaging material. Use strong tape designed for shipping. After you pack your box, shake it gently. The contents should not move when shaken.
Boxes must not exceed these maximum size and weight requirements: no more than 25 inches/ 63. 4 centimeters on any side and no more than 50 lb/ 23 kg total. NB Do not use point-of-sale containers (point-of-sale containers are part of the product you are selling and typically contain one single unit) or ‘open boxes’ (typically used for display purposes).
